  • 1 pack of white trigger point fibers
  • 1 spool olive Danville 140 denier thread

**Hooks not included**

Recommended hooks: Umpqua U103 in a size 8-12, or an Umpqua Stubby T(XT050) in a size 10-16.

Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Start by wrapping your thread back on the hook shank to where the hook starts to bend. Everything thats going on this hook shank is getting top tied so lets not get too carried away.

Step 2: I’ll use 1 to 4 strands of krystal flash for this first step. I like to incorporate some flash on this pattern to catch the fish's eye, or yours.

Step 3: Tie it in out the back of the hook, keeping it pretty short.

Step 4: Trim that 2mm foam into whatever size rectangular shape you desire. As big or small as you want the fly to be. This is the main body so I usually give it the length and a half of the hook, and 2-4 times the width of the hook. You can fine tune and shape it at the end too.

Step 5: Tie the foam in right around the bend of the hook.

Step 6: Pull off a single strand of rubber legs and cut it in 4 pieces.

Step 7: Tie one strand of rubber legs in on each side of the body.

Step 8: Trim off about 2 combined toothpicks width of EP trigger point fibers and cut them in half.

Step 9: Tie in one of the trigger point clumps on the top of the foam by folding in half around the thread and wrapping it in.

Step 10: Grab a pinch of ice dub, twist and spin it around the thread with your fingers.

Step 11: Wrap thread/ice dub forward until just behind the eye of the hook.

Step 12: Tie the front end of the foam in.

Step 13: Repeat Step 7, and then Step 9.

Step 14: Twist/spin a smidge more ice dub around your thread and cover the thread ball made from tying in the legs and trigger point fibers.

Step 15: Whip finish that thing!

Step 16: Trim foam, legs, and trigger point fibers to your desired shape and length. Boom, you're done! Not too hard huh?
