This pattern replicates an emerging caddis but is just as effective when imitating an emerging mayfly. The trailing shuck drags in the water while the elk wing/head and parachute hackle helps the fly sit just above the water. This style of fly should be in everyone's box for those days when the angler can't quite decide if the fish are on dries or emergers.
